Design

Design has been a thread through many of the communities I've worked in, from laying out page spreads as a student journalist to creating flyers and social media graphics for library events. I'm drawn to design that clarifies ideas and invites people in. This page includes editorial layouts, event graphics, and a zine exploring my final semester at Berkeley through a German philosophy lens.

[eigen/trans]formation

In German, eigen means "self." This zine explores how self formation is transformation through a personal reflection on an Ideas of Education course, where I dived into complex philosophies of Goethe, Schiller, Hegel, and other German thinkers. The main idea of the course, bildung, is a German word that refers to the process of self-cultivation and education. The works of these thinkers fundamentally disoriented my understanding of the self, education via bildung, and alienation in a modern world.

Newsmagazine Page Designs

While I was a student journalist, I had the opportunity to lay out page spreads for our campus publication. These designs reflect my approach to combining visual elements with written content to create engaging narratives.
